DCP #5: Draft Images (PT. 1)

Updated: Nov 22, 2018

My plan for creating the illustrations for this storybook is a quite a long step by step process and is as follows:

Drafting Images (drawing) - Painting - Editing using digital software - (Combining some images if necessary)

This is an example of one of my images that I have drafted. This is done to all the images I plan to do:

In the script, this is related to the page where the children are in shock listening to Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. They are astonished by all the instruments, drama, texture and dynamics.

"This piece was full of emotion, had more instruments than the children had seen previously and constantly changed moods, dynamics and texture. Both children were in complete amazement for the entire piece. They listened intently with their eyes wide open."

The children are also dressed in their European inspired fashion/clothing rather than the modern day wear (e.g. t-shirts, pants, summer dress).

Next step from this is to colour all the images and I am thinking of making them watercolour for a more whimsical effect as after all, they are travelling back in time.
