Teaching with Technology

There are numerous programs nowadays that allow teachers to teach their students through technology. Auralia 5 Cloud is a program that that allows teachers to create classes for teaching on topics such as intervals, chord, rhythm, harmony etc.

It is quite useful as it allows teachers to customise their questions and subjects to students by providing different levels depending on their percentage of correct answers.

To minimise distractions within the program, teachers can add and take away subjects that are not relevant.

The setup for teachers is also quite simple. Teachers can use excel to create student logins and passwords making it easy to organise, rename and list. A set up order could be as follows:

• LOGIN_NAME

• PASSWORD

• CLASS

• FIRST NAME

• LAST NAME

• VOICE (range ie. soprano, alto, tenor)

Teachers can create and customise tests (e.g. how many attempts, time limits). Through these tests, teachers can track the progress of students as it provides reports and marks/grading.

We were given the opportunity to trial this program and I personally think that it can be highly beneficial due to the many advantages and tools it provides.
