First lesson of Technology in Music Education today.

I would like to say that personally, I am not strong in technology but I hope that in taking this course, I can learn more skills and use those skills to ward teaching music students anywhere from primary to secondary.

Our lecturer today, Elizabeth, mainly taught us three programs:

Song Maker:

Very basic to use, and I think it would be great for younger children as it uses many colours to keep it bright and vibrant and the controls are quite straight forward without needing music instruction. It does have its limitations such as instrument choice and rhythm but it is very simple and great for basics. It's also free!

Garageband and Soundtrap:

I have only very briefly used both of these programs before so it was great that Elizabeth went through how to use the programs. More complex than Song Maker but also quite straight forward to use and there is also more variety in terms of what you could do such as; an album of recorded songs, creating loops etc.

For our group activity, we chose to use Soundtrap (through the free trial!) as there was a 'Collaboration' feature however, it did not work.

For students who would like to explore more into GarageBand, I have inserted a quick YouTube video to help you out! Enjoy!
